UPDATE 1/14/10

here is a 30 minute chart on the dollar I am expecting the dollar to reverse today and go higher

It was lower when I was working on this now it has turned positive!! :)

dollar 30

Hey Hobsters!

Can you believe the volume on the tape this year? It is non-exsistent. So there in lies the biggest problem. The Fed is running the tape right along side the GS boys! I know I know we have heard this before, but it’s OPX this week, so this move today doesn’t suede me from my goals.  I am sticking with my game plan, my turn date has the January 15th for the next corrective Wave. Will I be right? I don’t know, but I will not miss the move. I have spreads to keep me from going too crazy but not on the SPY’s.

I am not going to go into a bunch of charts tonight, to tell you the truth I am not in the mood. There is so much crap happening all over the world and it sometimes just makes me nuts.

So here’s to wishing you each a good night and hopefully I feel more into this thing tomorrow. Nothing has changed for the moment.

I know with OPX it’s an unreliable week! Love to you all!

Anna

Anna- Has JPM good news been built in?
  • Hi Will I think so in this one too, I follow INTC more than JPM :)
  • willthethrill
    Thx.
  • INTC RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • ROFLMBO hahahahah love it babe!
  • flyboy08
CC just started...Take a deep breath...it'll be OK...then again, it may depend on JPM action?
  • Looks like INTC is a non event so far. JPM is up next............
  • What did I say right after it reported GAP & CRAP hahahahah
  • Great call anna!
  • I thought that's what would happen.. the stock price had it built in ;)
  • Brian_mk
can you tell me which lottery numbers to play this weekend? lmao
  • damn if we could only do that ! :)
  • I bought 80/160/80 contracts at an average of 0.17. G/L to both of us :-)
  • dark1p
G'night, everyone. Have to go drinking. Just have to.

intc excitement is damping now. only up 20 cents
  • ChickenLittle
Love the headlines about INTC blowing out numbers.

  • dark1p
    19 minutes til drinking.

Not that I have a problem or anything.
  • the_first_dude
Intel's earnings are meaningless. JPM reports tomorrow morning which is a bit more important, but still largely meaningless. The market priced in these events weeks ago and are looking ahead to other things, such as Q4 GDP. The market is pricing in the market much higher and this trend should continue into the first few weeks of Feb. Pullbacks should be considered headfake moves and buyable dips.
  • dark1p
Dude, I can't argue with you. You've been right for a while and I sure haven't been.

The market is, as they say, 'priced for perfection' looking forward. Got a feeling it will be more like the perfect storm at some point.
  • INTC and futs already flattening I will giggle my bootie off if INTC is flat to down tomorrow at open :))
  • FattyPedro
Hi. Been on a mission for a while -- looking for Kemal :-)

Did an INTC trade today within an hour o' the close:

Bought the Feb/Jan 21 put calendar for .38.

Should be a money maker tomorrow as long as INTC stays somewhere between 19.5 and 22.

Anyone else do a calendar? The implied volatility on Jan options was very high.
  • Hi Pedro great to see you...did you find him?

I did too a BF which might turn out to be good as the middle legs will get a huge crush

it's only up about 20c after hours :)
  • FattyPedro
Nope. He's gone underground -- incognito. Not to be found.

    What BF did you do?

I just looked briefly at the options and when I saw the Jans had IVs in the 80s, while the Febs were low 30s, I couldn't resist. That's mighty juicy. If I had had more time I might have done some kind of exotic calendar IC or BF.

I'll be surprised if my little 21 calendar doesn't have a really good rate of return tomorrow. Of course I will wait til right before the close to close it out (which hopefully will have the Jan put expire worthless so I will only have one side to sell).
  • INTC- Bwaaaaahaaaaaaa

Futures- muted response to INTC earnings so far :-)))
  • heheheheh love it :)
  • AS2009
That will be a cool return :)
  • Brian_mk
throw that bacon suit in with those eggs... make a good breakfast lol
  • :-)
  • mmTesla
    That is sweet!
  • mmTesla
    Cheers to profit!
  • :-)
  • gsavli
    just you wait... :)
  • dark1p
    Good luck, Pramod!

Say, what happens when the market doesn't respond to bad news OR good? And there's no volume, either?

    Spooky....
  • The guidance was in line and that is why it is till dropping..........
  • AudioTactics
Hmmm, some analyst on CNBC was saying that revenue guidance was higher than expected...
  • ChickenLittle
Weren't estimates just dropped to .30 a week ago?
  • flyboy08
    GL Pra!
  • Thank you :-). The way I looked at that BF trade is either you lose 0.15 or make 1.00. I know Anjali was concerned with the broken wing but INTC very rarely moves >5%. The RSI on 30 minute time frame at EOD was 67 and that told me it had only 1-2% upside before it reverses to reset the RSI.
  • string01
I think the spike drew both mom AND pop into the market.

When $INTC gaps >+2% on earnings & $QQQQ is near a 52-week high, QQQQ was positive only 1 out of 7 times 2 weeks later
  • lulala1234
was it "sell at the news" last qtr for intc? anyone remember?
  • I will be back in a bit take a break and then do new post want to see with INTC conference call.
  • springheel_jack
I just did the monthly chart on INTC Anna. I'm wishing I had had a moment to do that earlier:

    http://www.screencast.com/users/springheel_jack...
  • Hey gang. Glad I didn't get a fill on my BIDU puts. I'm going to guess we'll have a green open tomorrow, led by techs. BIDU is looking like it is ready to fall over. If you're brave enough to play options on the final day of this OPEX period, I think there is money to be made.
  • I don't think much if at all, gap and crap...this was all built in but that's my HO :)
  • I think you're right. Good luck with your collection of butterflies!
  • springheel_jack
Is it OK for me to do tomorrow's post Anna? Got some interesting charts.
  • ChickenLittle
When are they going to start the call, elevator music loop is getting real old
  • 5:30 I believe I just looked that's quite a while...I think it rolls over by tomorrow a.m.
  • ChickenLittle
Thanks, apparently I am time-zone math challenged.

NQ opens up 4-5, ES 1 and change.

Hadn't looked at the NQ chart today...didn't get up to its high of 1/11, either....

speaking of news is news... ZH said Conan is out. I am sure that is sellable, right?
  • dark1p

  • especially with Simon Cowell leaving American Idol LOL
  • dark1p
    Futures reopen in 60 seconds....
  • AudioTactics
I get the sense that there alot of Raj Rajaratnam's out there...

I think these numbers get out somehow, someway.

But not to us of course!
  • tooshort
not sure this was covered here today= but there is a legitimate concern of a terrorist attack by our government.
And apparently they may have US Passports...
    http://www.businessinsider.com/confirmed-us-off...
  • dark1p
Hate to say it, but at some point I wouldn't be surprised if we get hit somehow. You can't seal off the whole country.

Goes with the social mood thing, too, unfortunately. That's how I knew we had turned the corner in 2001, regardless of the sham recovery since.
  • Earl of
We need to get used to the idea of stuff blowing up. We lack the will to stop them.
  • dark1p
    True, but that may come.

It makes me sad just to think of what we'd have to do to stop them, though. But ya gotta survive.
  • tooshort
interestingly enough, there were lots of bombings in the 70s in this country. Croatians killed 21 ? in an attack at LaGuardia . Just a different era and mindset
  • dark1p
The 70s was the last prolonged period of recession we experienced. Bader-Meinhof in Germany, the Weather Underground, Simbionese Liberation Army, etc. Take that and multiply it by 50, and that's what we could be in for.

    Let's just hope we aren't.
  • flyboy08
Doesn't surprise me, I married one:-)
  • string01
Some kind of signal was given recently. I'm expecting a bunch of small chaos causing hits around the country. Not a big spectacular WTC thing.
  • dark1p
From the attacker's point of view, that would be smart. We always defend against the last attack and miss the new one.
  • jacksoo
i'm amazed they haven't done that already - a few random gunmen firing off in shopping malls across the country wld send panic across the nation - oh, wait a minute, the malls are empty, perhaps not so much panic.
  • dark1p
Quick, edit that comment. Big Brother is watching! ;-)

But they're not watching the party list or anyone's underwear, so go crazy there....
  • jacksoo
My underpants regularly explode and emit foul odours I'd better look for a
    disguis.......
  • tooshort
    what makes you think that?
  • string01
Just a hunch from some of the things that have been happening around the globe that don't get much press. Strategically it makes most sense too. Think London transit bombing scheme only more widespread.
  • tooshort
I guess I was wondering what sort of signal was given?
  • dark1p
Well, first Oprah quits her show, then Tyra says something about quitting hers, then Cowell, then Conan....

    It's a pattern, man!
  • string01
Looks like 5 waves up to me.
  • dark1p
I think you have something there, stringed one....
  • string01
What I'm prepping for is the inner-city muslims to co-opt the gangs here in CHicago as things continue to deteriorate. I've started carrying my glock17 when I walk the dog.
  • ChickenLittle
maybe you should get a pig for protection or put bacon in your pockets
  • dark1p
Hmmmmm.....pork cologne as a protective device....
  • ChickenLittle
or you could carry this in your pocket.

    http://www.gratefulpalate.com/?p=RAIRFRESH&pare...
  • dark1p
    hahaha...that's great! I want one!
  • ChickenLittle
or you could just wear the suit. Probably work better in the ghetto.

    http://www.mcphee.com/shop/pages/Bacon-Tuxedo.html
  • dark1p
And only $100!! I love this:

'Best of all, it smells just like bacon sizzling in the pan. Dry clean only.'
  • AudioTactics
    That site is hilarious! haha...
  • ChickenLittle
Nobody would f with you then. They would know that you were all business.
  • dark1p
I hear you. All this is kind of depressing, ain't it? Maybe we should talk about the Three Stooges or something....

Futures didn't do much of anything after 4:30...few points...
  • string01
Yeah... writing about this shit just cuts right thru my meds.
    meh.

    Nurse!
  • dark1p
    hahahaha!!

Reminds me, I have a date with a bar at 5:30.

And I only have two Oxy left from some minor surgery a year ago....damn!
  • you know when the VIX gets this complacent something always happens somehow.
  • dark1p
    Sad, but true.
  • yes it is!
  • thanks too, another reason to rally this market, that should be good for a few thousand points!

I like the cat drinking water video better!
  • tooshort
I did too. And I agree the market is like an alternate reality but news is news
